Clinton Street Baking Company recently opened in Citywalk, phase 2.
When chef-husband & wife, Neil Kleinberg and DeDe Lahman, opened Clinton Street Baking Company in New York City, their only mission was to make the best baked goods in the city, hand-mixed in small batches. But soon the local and international recognition stumbled in, and murmurs of Neil’s simple yet delicious omelets, sandwiches, and soups moved people to cluster — then crowd — the block. New York Magazine voted Neil’s blueberry pancakes best in the city (twice!). Fast forward to today, the culinary splendor has made its way across the Atlantic to our very own city, Dubai. “In the morning it smells like blueberry muffins and fresh ground coffee; in the evening, buttermilk fried chicken and waffles. All day and night it sounds like latin-southern-blue note jazz with a New York vibe that you can feel the second you walk in.”
Where: Clinton Street Baking Company, Building 10, CityWalk
Cuisine: American, Bakery, Desserts
Perfect For: Breakfast for lunch or dinner
Service: The staff were a bit confusing, some were pleasant and helpful whereas some were lazy and unattentive.
What we loved: I have to start with how good Clinton’s chocolate peanut butter milkshake was, it’s just SO SO yummy and filling! We started off with some drinks and then moved on to the starters and then mains. For the starter, we had the chile chicken wings which was full of flavor and so easy to eat. For the mains, we 3 each order one dish and what we loved about this place was that they serve breakfast all day! So you can now have your pancakes and eggs for dinner as well, haha! We chose to go for the salmon burger, the grilled chicken sandwich, and the Burj views breakfast (absolutely love the name of this dish). All three of the dishes were extremely filling, none of us could finish our dishes, so if you’re planning on visiting Clinton Street Baking Company make sure you don’t over order. Keep in mind that one dish is good for 2 people. The grilled sandwich was definitely a task to cut but totally worth it because of how good it tasted, so fresh and delicious. Loved the way they served the Burj views breakfast, it comes with sliced avocado, grilled chicken, eggs (however you like it) and some salad leaves. Not only is this dish extremely healthy but it’s also very appealing and super Instagram worthy. In fact, the entire restaurant is pretty aesthetic, from the color scheme to the marble tables, it’s all Instagram worthy. We definitely got a few shots in there for the gram. Finally, for the desserts, we had absolutely no room for it but still wanted to try at least one of their desserts so we went with the brownie sundae, which was super chocolatey and yummy, we really enjoyed it.
What we didn’t like as much: The restaurant/our table wasn’t exactly the cleanest, which was quite disappointing. We felt like the virgin bloody mary could have been made better, it was a bit watery. The Salmon burger was a bit too dry, wish they had added some more sauce.
What we recommend:
- Chocolate Peanut Butter Milkshake
- Burj Views Breakfast
- Grilled chicken sandwich
Ambiance: Not too occupied, good vibes. They have an indoor and outdoor seating, we would definitely recommend sitting outdoors in this weather.
More on Clinton Street Baking Company…
When they began, Neil and Dede were a small wholesale baking company with a storefront and a few loyal neighborhood customers who lingered over coffee and muffins and tapped out on their laptop keys (before smartphones were born). These days, most folks know Neil’s pancakes are voted best in the city, but it’s his savory roots that ground the menu and make them proud. People call it “comfort food,” but what they are dishing out is American Classics made with the highest quality ingredients, locally sourced — whenever possible — with lots of love (and butter). Open daily from 8 am – 11 pm.
