Swim and Tonic | Restaurant Review

If you are looking for a place to dip your toes in after a long busy day,

swing by Swim & Tonic pool bar & lounge featuring spectacular views of Burj Khalifa. Located on the pool deck level of the Steigenberger Hotel, featuring cocktails, smoothies, fresh fruit and snacks, Swim & Tonic pool bar & lounge also offers mouth-watering food options from our well-travelled chef to cater to the needs of our cosmopolitan guests.

Where: Swim and Tonic, Steigenberger Hotel Business Bay

Cuisine: International

Perfect for: Enjoying drinks & bites with a view

Service: Very sweet but a bit short staffed and unattentive. Towards the end of the night, the place gets overly crowded and it’s super difficult to get hold of even one waiter.

What we loved: The vibes of Swim and Tonic is just amazing, so so chilled out. You could sit there for hours and not get bored. Coming to the food, as the menu is very limited we decided to go with 3 starters and 2 mains. Their portions are fairly large and one dish is more than enough. What we liked is how anything you pick out of the menu is full of flavor, very filling and you get the exact dish they describe in the menu. We started off with calamari, shrimp cocktail, and nachos, all 3 starters were absolutely mouth watering. Especially their calamari it’s just to die for, it’s just so good, we always order it when we visit this place. The Shrimp cocktail comes in a jar with a lot of salad leaves and many shrimp pieces too, very fresh in flavor. Half way through the starters and we were already way too full so we just went ahead with 2 mains, the chicken drumsticks, and the Turkey Panini. The Turkey Panini again is almost good for 2 people, so if you’re going in here, it’s best to order with keeping the sharing concept in mind.

What we didn’t like as much: We felt the management/staff were a bit unprofessional, which was a little off-putting. As for the food, the chicken drumsticks weren’t the best, we’ve tasted better ones, the sauce on the drumsticks could be less, as it just soaks up the whole chicken.

What we recommend:

  • Fried Calamari
  • Nachos
  • Shrimp Cocktail

Ambiance: A full house on a Thursday, make sure to book a table at least 2-3 days in advance. Very chilled out vibes, cute bean bags to chill on, amazing weather & good music. You tend to bump into a million people here, only because it has become such a common place for everyone to be at especially on a Thursday / Friday.
